Nusa dua area in Bali is a master-planned development that provides several luxury hotels and resorts; among them is Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort & Hotel, owned by Agung Podomoro Land. As of today, this hotel can be defined as a French-inspired 5-star luxury beachfront getaway with lagoon pools, tropical gardens, elegant-modern design, various wellness activities, and authentic Balinese charm. Initially designed and concepted by WATG Architecture Firm in Singapore, we followed along to help finalize the project in early 2012.
The big architecture concept of the project was to create a complete Bali experience within the whole site. This can be experienced right from the lobby entrance, where guests are welcomed by large timber columns supporting the lobby area’s roof. These columns symbolize a banyan tree, which reflects an important center of social life in Balinese villages or one to celebrate significant steps in life. We also integrated Balinese heritage into the design and utilized local craftsmanship, including traditional carvings, panels and gates, doorways, and local materials.
